Family friendly vintage guest house in Old Bangkok
In March and April 2013 we have been 3 times in PN guesthouse since we were so happy the first time we decided to come back other 2 times! The place is very nice, beautiful rooms originally decorated (each room has a different decoration), the staff is very very kind and helpful to arrange taxi or give information or help to do the laundry.... The breakfast is really good, we also appreciate that the day we were leaving for the airport at night, they kindly let us have a shower in the afternoon (we were also given towels, wow!) so we could take the plane refreshed! The guesthouse is near to the ferry, 10 minutes walk, (because of traffic jam, this is the best way to move in Bangkok!) and nearby there are 3 very good vegetarian restaurants. If we come back to Bangkok 100% we will stay at PN guesthouse!
We could not have enjoyed our stay at PN guesthouse more! The ambiance and decor were eclectic and charming, and the roof deck with fantastic views and the cutest bunnies was an added plus. The service was great, with little touches like juice upon arrival, which made us feel welcome. But maybe PNs crowning achievement is the food. We had dinner there two out of three nights, and everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Smoothies amazing. The breakfast was just right both days, with interesting assortments of healthy and delicious small-bites. It's also great that they have a shower and locker available after checkout. Only downside was lack of proximity to public transit, but you can walk many places and cabs are cheap. Highly recommended!!
I would describe the Phranakorn Nornlen more as a guest house than a
hotel. Having said that, I would add that it is a very comfortable,
clean, and welcoming guesthouse. The whole establishment has a lot of
character, even quirky if you look at the architecture closely. But
quirky in an pleasing way.
Here are some facts:
Interesting old quarter of Bangkok, within walking distance of the Thewes Ferry Pier on the Chao Phraya, the Thewet Market and Khao San. Very quiet location.
Very Clean, with convenient facilities like a laundry room and a shower to use after you've checked out but have wandered around all day in muggy Bangkok before a late-night flight.
Staff extremely nice and helpful.
Good kitchen, exotic (from a western standpoint) breakfasts but always with toast as a stand-by.
Little nice gestures like free beverages, discounts on their products and services, and small giveaways.
Transportation: very close to river ferries, close enough to town to always have taxis, tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis (not for the faint-hearted!). They organize taxis on request from a trusted taxi company. Very well situated for buses! Tip: figure out how to use the Bangkok buses!
Very family-friendly with a playroom, meaning a lot of little kids running around the central courtyard. Since they can be very loud, this is a positive or negative feature, depending on your perspective.
Tranquility in a city like Bangkok it is possible. A gem to stay. Great place for children there is lots of room and entertainment from sandpit to blocks etc. We spend New years eve at PN and we had the best of fun playing games and they also cooked up the best food for everyone that night, all for free, our kids were very much entertained. On their roof top we watched some great lanterns set of in the sky.
The room and facilities (dining room etc.) are very charming. The staff are very kind and friendly. Almost perfect for me, if I must say; ?I found some ants in the bathroom. ?far from the city center a little bit But if you want to enjoy peaceful stay, I recommend this hotel!
