Unique, creative, immensely warm-hearted and thoroughly enjoyable experience.by PN guests :) on 05/24/12
We had just two nights and one day in Bangkok at the end of a six week journey through SE Asia and after much debate about where in the city to locate ourselves, we chose Phra-Nakorn Nor-Len because it's in old Bangkok and because it didn't look like anywhere we had ever stayed before. It was an absolute delight. It's a compelling cross between a playground, a work of outsider art, and a very large family home that offers joy, coolness and comfort in equal measure. A great location and fantastic staff who are very warm and helpful. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. The restaurant serves simply tasty food. The rooftop bar gives great views over the city. Wi fi is good. Air con is effective. There are washing machines available for laundry, and hot water on tap for tea and coffee making. The communal areas are generous, spacious, and atmospheric. There's a shop selling crafts, postcards, soap and other small objects of desire. They run print workshops and cookery workshops. For young travellers, it has the independent feel of a hostel, and for families it gives the kind of open welcome that you just don't get in hotels. It manages to combine a great sense of freedom with a sense of safety and home. Accomodation is basic but you will have everything you need. This is an experience not to be missed. I wished that we'd had more time to spend there.
