Home away from home in a tranquil setting
by PN guests :) on 08/31/12
We love PN so much I am writing this review before we have even left.
Yes
it is a little out of the way, but it is worth the longer taxi ride to
stay in a place that feels like a private oasis in a chaotic city. There
is easy easy access to taxi's and tuk tuks when you want to venture out
and apparently the ferry is easy to catch although we didn't do that.
My husband and I booked the connecting family room (309) to accommodate
us and our 2 daughters (23 yrs and 5 yrs old). The room were creative
and vibrant and the 2 separate bathrooms were huge!
When I walked
into our room after spending a week at a large chain hotel for a
conference I felt instantly relaxed - great lounge music playing on the
CD player, balcony doors open, fans on and beautiful handpainted walls
which you can see in the many photos that other travellers have posted.
The WIFI worked straight away and within minutes I was connected to a
skype call on my laptop. The staff are incredibly accommodating and
after I had settled in they arranged a private book binding lesson for
me, while I was waiting for my family to join me from Australia. The
workshops are fantastic and my older daughter and I loved doing the
cooking (Tip - don't eat before you do the class!) and the soap making
workshop (a throw back to high school chemistry).
The food is great,
and yes its a little more costly than if you were to eat outside the
hotel, but its really really good simply styled food that is very tasty
and safe to eat (which is important when you are travelling with young
children). Breakfast was included (along with vouchers for some lunches
and discounts in their shop). You can't get better smoothies, iced
coffees and chocolates - which are a great treat after a long day in the
heat.
We were all very well looked after but our youngest
daughter in particular was treated like a princess, in fact I think at
times the staff were watching out for her better than we were. They kept
her entertained every day and seemed to geniunely enjoy her company. In
fact our daughter formed a lovely friendship with 'K' who is a lovely
gentle young woman who works in the cafe, and our daughter is looking
forward to writing to her and sending her drawings when we return to
Australia.
They have thought of everything from the MACs and wifi,
through to the childrens play area including lie down swing. This is the
kind of place you want to escape to when you need a break away - even
if you live in Bangkok you will enjoy having time out at Phra-Nakorn
Norn-Len. Enjoy an organic herb cocktail at the rooftop bar - the view
is amazing and the cocktails and herb garden and wonderful to enjoy (its
hard to believe that all of this is available in a place that feels
like a home away from home).
The staff should be commended
(everyday) for their attentiveness and their service, we cant thank them
enough making our holiday wonderful. We love this place and we will be
back!!
