Family friendly vintage guest house in Old Bangkok

If Brooklyn –well, the Brooklyn that values history while fostering independent artistry, innovation and an eco-minded DIY culture—was a hotel in Bangkok, it would be Phranakorn-Norlen. A “family friendly vintage guest house in Old Bangkok,” PN is that rare breed of hip that’s driven by genuine creativity and do-goodery rather than the desire to be hip. Faux vintage storefronts line the main wall of the open-air lobby; around one corner, homemade, organic food is for sale at the café; around another, homemade, organic beauty products at the gift shop. Next door, a mini science lab and workshop equipped with sewing machines (vintage, naturally) provide space for community classes, (guests may attend one for free). Each floor has its own theme and each room its own look, replete with hand-painted walls and carefully chosen retro wares. Up top, a bar and rooftop garden push PN’s charm off the charts. Rooms (solo available!) start at about $56 per night.

Amazing!

The whole place is like an adorable little wonderland! The restaurant has a little stream running through it and lots of cute floral cushions and table covers that were all made within the hotel by the staff. The shabby chic, vintage style is carried on throughout the entire place and everywhere you look there is something interesting or beautiful to look at. Our room was lovely and someone brings amazing ginger tea to your door. The best part was the music playing in the room, a cd made by the staff of the best music I have ever heard. We only stayed one night but it was so much fun and felt like a little dream world. The staff were so nice and the food was excellent. We were also given tokens for a free meal just for no reason! Try the massaman curry and the smoothies are awsome too!

Best hotel I've stayed in in Thailand

Amazing. Beautiful place, extremely helpful and pleasant staff, the most comfortable bed I have had whilst travelling, peaceful and welcoming.

They have a sister hotel in Chiang Mai, a little pricy for the average backpacker but it was a well earned rest when we got there!

Beautiful, warm, welcome and relaxing

Myself and friend stayed here over Christmas and we couldnt have wished for a nicer place to stay in Busy Bangkok.
Its a little hidden Gem away from the hustle and Bustle of Busy Bangkok, but easily reachable via Taxi and Tuk Tuk and still very Central.
Excellent Value For money, lovely helpful and friendly staff, great home made tasty food, an Uplifting ambience, bright and colour decor (its fantastic) and with a great Roof Terrace.
Both of us would definatley go back to stay here again.
It was Perfect! - I dont normally write reviews but this place was that special- iI had too!!!

An absolute treat!!

After spending three weeks travelling budget accomodation in Thailand I decided to treat myself to something a little pricier for my last two days - this was certainly something special.

From the moment I arrived I was amazed, the guesthouse is so beautiful you have to see it to believe it. They have the little touches nailed, to a little sign on the door welcoming me personally, a drink on arrival, wonderful smiling staff (thanks to Nok especially!) who show you to your room and outline the facilities. A breakfast call to a delicious vegetarian breakfast and help booking anything you might need.

It was wonderfully clean and the delightful crisp and clean sheets (and the comfiest bed in the world) made it an absolutely great nights sleep.

Free wifi, free gifts of homemade soap, tea and balms to help those insect bites you may have picked up on your travels and then additional vouchers for lunch, massages and money off in their shop.

I joined the free cookery class which was also great fun.

The only complaint is that I wish I could have stayed longer!

I'd love to know more about how the social enterprise side of the business works :-)

I can't wait to visit again! <3 Truly someplace special.
