Family friendly vintage guest house in Old Bangkok
~*~*~*~*This hotel can ONLY be booked through its website*~*~*~*~*(not agoda or other similar sites.)
Our first time to Thailand and we were adjusting to the busy bangkok culture, and on our 3rd day, we arrived at Phranakorn-Norlen. It was strange for us, as we now also had to adjust to the vintage feel, which is part of why were were going, but it felt like we had stepped back in time - so we were adjusting to culture and era! Felt surreal. They have done the vintage part very well.
Taxi had trouble finding the place. So before you travel, print off their instructions from their website, to give to your taxi driver.
Staff were wonderful, and what stood out to me while we were there, is how helpful and friendly they were with 2 little boys, playing with them and allowing the parents to have breakfast, and you could see it was a genuine pleasure as the staff happily vied to hold and play with the baby!
Although we traveled with 2 children and felt very welcome and comfortable here.
Hotel was hot, as only the rooms are airconditioned, but the eating area has a breeze-way. (We were adjusting to the heat though, so others may not find the heat a problem.)
Nice breakfast (vegetarian), fruit and cold iced teas always available. Didn't try their other meals.
Remember that this is a hotel with a difference - a 'vintage' hotel. Read their website home page, and see if its what is going to suit what you are looking for.
We did the sewing class with one other person, but the machines were hard to use as they are the vintage kind and it was a bit frustrating. Great if thats what you want to try though!
You can book a massage there too.
Very well designed and appointed hotel run by helpful, welcoming staff. Breakfast is very good. The only minor issue is the location which is about a 10 minute walk from the bar and restaurant centres.
A small jewel in Bangkok, where you can feel well, safe and at ease with yourself and the world. Don't look for particular luxurious commodities, but enjoy the care which characterizes every small particular of this guesthouse, from room details to the kindness of the staff. In one word: rare, precious harmony.
We've been two days just after landing in Bangkok in this very nice hotel, everything went great on top of a tastefully decorated room. The staff was nice and helpful. The veggie breakfast was good. This is a very quiet and relaxed place that is very recommendable for couples (families seemed to do fine too).
The hotel is beautiful, calm, and the staff is really friendly. We took tons of photos during our stay, every corner is beautifully decorated, we loved it! Every single little detail was obviously well thought out. It is very well situated, only a 15min walk away from Kawsan Road. We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Bangkok.
